Museum at the waterworks

The museum at the waterworks is located in a part of the disused and landmarked part of the Friedrichshagen waterworks. Historic evidences about the history of water supply and drainage of Berlin are collected in the Mark brick-gothic-style buildings where the permanent exhibition “Wasser für Berlin” (water for Berlin) is presented as a cross-section from 1850 to 1950.

Principal item and attraction is the originally conserved machine hall with three scoopmachines from 1893 which worked with vapour until 1979. A machine is demonstrated to visitors during the guiding tours and on week-ends. Nature, historic architecture and technics as well as museum-like presentation at the original location can be apprehended in an ideal connection.

Besides the permanent exhibition special and changing exhibitions, concerts and other events take place at the waterworks.
