Memorial Place „Köpenicker Blutwoche“ (blood-week)

An outpost of the Köpenick museum of local history is the memorial place „Köpenicker Blutwoche“ (blood-week). It is located in the former court-jail Köpenick. A place that reminds of victims of the cruelty during the NS-period.

In the summer of 1933 during an unequalled mission,  a couple hundred of political opposites were fetched out of their apartments and lugged into Köpenick’s SA-Sturm-bars where they were maulted and killed. This happening was called the “Köpenicker Blutwoche”.

The permanent exhibition shows pictures and plates of this happening and circumstances that made the NS-regime possible. The cabinets and the former prayer room can also be looked at.
