Exhibition at the Köpenick City Hall
"Subordinate – sure! But „sub“ what?" Two rooms on the city hall’s first floor inform about the houses history and architecture and also about the story of the captain of Köpenick. The first room shows maps, old construction drawings and pictures of individual parts. This room explains “Construction and art – the art of construction”. The second room tells about the “Köpenickiade” during which the unemployed shoemaker Wilhelm Voigt puts on a captain’s uniform which he had bought at a dawdler’s shop and occupies the city hall, arrests the mayor and steals the treasury. Newspapers, pictures, a captain’s uniform and other materials remind of this anecdote.
